'August and Everything After' - Rootsy American influences (Accordians, double bass, etc) blended with conventional rock band approach (electric guitar, hammonds and swirling leslie's)
'Recovering the Satelites' - A harder approach on this second album - loud guitars and driving rhythms but the soft underbelly remains.
'This Desert Life' - A lightening of the approach, - they cut loose with their playing and nearly even have fun in the intro track, 'Hanging around'. However the ability to craft an outstanding x-factor song remains, - they just sound a little bit more relaxed, having found out that they don't have to prove it with every single song. I liked it when it first came out. At the moment I love it - 'All My Friends' is truly inspired, as is 'I Wish I Was A Girl', (stop tittering in the back row!), whilst stuff like 'Amy Hit The Atmosphere' is merely brilliant lyric poetry.
